wondertee
Ok super quick note because i've been running running as fast as I can
These shirts ROCK!
They are called wondertees and they run about $10, come in cute colours as well as your basic shades and really help with shirts where they are a little short (these come low on your hip) or are otherwise immodest. I pretty much only use these to layer because they are quite snug but I love the coverage they give me....no reaching for a high shelf and wondering who's seeing what!
And thanks for all the birthday wishes.....I turned 27 on the 27th of November here's to another great year!

grateful
We had a great time in LA and are now home dealing with all the catching up at work and at home. Our cats looked at us with the cutest looks as we laid down for bed last night...as if to say "surely you are not thinking of sleeping in OUR bed are you?". So in honour of 4 years and 5 days here are some things I'm grateful for.

~ the husband part of my family
~ the furry part of my family
~ the friend part of my family
Seriously what else really matters? We all get so wrapped up in these first world worries for the most part and for the most part it is all so trivial.
Hope you are all having a great day...i'll be back soon with fun pics and recap from our trip!

pineapple upside down cupcakes
These are the cupcake of the week. Pineapple upside down cupcakes. So yummy! I was surprised that this recipe was so good. You put a little corn syrup in the glaze and it really helps it to be smooth and not grainy .Totally delish!
We had the good luck to babysit our little neighbors the Moody Girls this past week...their favorite thing to do at our house is play wii and they are such fun!
We spend quite a bit of time with them because I am really good friend with their mom and they live right across the street. We are lucky!

my water bottle
I know it seems like a little thing but living in the desert has really taught me to appreciate water! I have had this bottle for months now and I am so happy with it. It's a SIGG aluminum bottle that has a special coating on the inside that prevents any leaching of aluminum into whatever you store in the bottle and I think that's why water in this bottle always tastes SO fresh. I also bought this bottle because I am making an effort to stop buying bottled water. I fill it up before I leave home and that way I seldom have to buy a bottle and as a result throw away a bottle. I love the one I have and have been thinking about getting another.
I have the "night garden" design. and have had my eye on this other one for awhile now.
Isn't this design so pretty! It may just be my next purchase!

Bellydancing
OK it's a little crazy to think that I have been taking belly dancing classes for almost a month now! It's super great exercise and really fun to boot! Highlight of this past Saturday's class was meeting fellow Canadian Linda...we had a total "shared Canadian heritage" moment and it was nice to meet a new friend. She thinks we should get together with the other Canadian ladies in town and form a group "The Butter Tarts". Hysterical! The picture above is a new hip scarf I ordered...my sister in law April bought me a really pretty pink one as an early birthday present and that's what I've been using, I'm excited to have an extra one to switch out with and to share with a friend if they come along to try it out.
I'll be back later with more about our long weekend!

November card class
I had tons of fun yesterday at the monthly card class I go to. We made three adorable cards and one ornament. I am really not the biggest gold fan (and the pictures of everything are not very good) but it was a really neat idea for an ornament. You take a ceramic ornament, $1 at michaels, and stamp an image with versamark. Sprinkle with embossing powder and use a heat gun to set!
later!

cupcake organization
I have a problem with collecting cupcake liners. They are so adorable and so inexpensive that I just can't help myself!
I recently even had to figure out a new storage solution because I was amassing such a collection...here are some pictures to demonstrate!
It really is a sickness but at the least they are all organized and pretty now...what more can I ask for!

Law
Today for the second time in the past week an attorney I work for is prosecuting a case in front of a jury. The last one was a homicide case that lasted three weeks and ended in an acquittal. Seriously.
Today we start again with another case.
I think the hardest part of working at the prosecutor’s office is the constant exposure to everything nasty that people do to each other. If I never have to see another beat up victim of domestic violence or look at another autopsy photograph I would be so cool with that!
On the flip side it’s totally rewarding at times to be working putting bad guys behind bars….when you have moments of feeling like you are really making a difference and helping out. I honestly don’t think I could work for the defense side of things though. Seeing what I see and knowing what I know…there is a whole lot of ugly in the world.
I went to a conference last week and some of the topics were Child prostitution, Gangs, and undercover work. Super interesting….the guy who spoke about undercover work had been undercover with the Hell’s Angels for a long time and his stories were really interesting. I also know more now about prostitution then I ever thought I would or needed to know….it’s scary the statistics that come along with stuff like that. But the only common thread with all of the girls that ended up on the streets was this. Low self esteem. Seriously….if we can give young girls nothing else lets give them the knowledge that they are powerful and wonderful and loved.
I know that this is kind of a downer post so I promise to be back with something happy soon and I will leave you with this quote.
Our Deepest Fear
by Marianne Williamson
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
